Part of Attain’s portfolio of mobile applications, Merryfield is a leading performance marketing platform that connects better-for-you brands with a premium audience actively seeking high-quality, clean-label products. The platform offers targeted promotions, flexible budget options and detailed reporting to help brands grow their reach and engage loyal customers.

This role is on the following hybrid schedule (Tues-Th) in our Chicago, IL office.

What your day to day will look like

• Use new and modern technology to build new features and services across our microservice architecture
• Write thoughtful & quality code that is readable, testable, and easily maintainable
• Create data-driven and stable APIs for our mobile apps to consume
• Strive for excellent development practices and careful code architecture that is built around rapid releases
• Work cross-functionally with all mobile and backend engineers, and product teams to consistently release high-quality, customer-focused features
• Adhere to, and improve upon, our agile process through requirement documents, sprint retrospectives, and other regular cadence meetings

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building backend services with 2+ of those years in a technical leadership capacity (mentoring junior engineers, scoping technical projects, etc.)
• Experience with Microservice or Service-oriented Architectures.
• Experience building within the Node.js ecosystem
• Experience using gRPC, protobuf, or GraphQL
• Experience managing AWS environments (GCP is a plus)
• Experience with working with relational databases
• Experience with message queues or event streams
• Experience in the financial and rewards tech industry is a plus
• Experience proactively working with modern AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, Cody, etc.) and a curiosity for emerging AI workflows
