About Jawnt

Jawnt is on a mission to connect people to their cities by making transportation accessible to everyone. We work with employers to modernize commuter benefits, moving real dollars across fintech, transit, and HR systems for some of the largest organizations in the country. We're a lean team headquartered in Philly, and we care a lot about building technology that actually works for our cities and customers.

The Opportunity

We're looking for someone who understands finance and knows how to build systems around it. The ideal person has a strong foundation in financial operations, whether that's from audit, FP&A, or billing, and has also developed real data skills along the way. You care about getting the books closed accurately and on time, and you're always thinking about how to make next month easier than this one.

You'll work side-by-side with our COO and own the infrastructure behind how we bill customers, reconcile payments, and report revenue. It's a role with genuine ownership and real impact on how we operate.

What You'll Own

  • Ensure employees have the right funds loaded on their Jawnt Pass and the transit passes they need, catching issues before they become problems for real people
  • Partner with our accountants to close the books accurately and on time each month
  • Run month-end invoicing and reporting for customers, making sure every number ties out
  • Manage AR/AP and the reconciliation between what's billed, what's collected, and what's owed
  • SQL-backed audits and billing QA, tracing revenue from product usage through to invoice
  • Document billing logic, edge cases, and assumptions as systems evolve
  • Use AI-assisted tooling to reduce manual work and surface issues earlier

What We're Looking For

2-5 years in finance, accounting, revenue ops, or billing, and you've developed genuine comfort working with data along the way. You don't need a fintech background. You do need:

  • SQL as a real working skill (you query data to answer financial questions, not just to dabble)
  • Experience with invoicing, reconciliation, or financial reporting
  • A track record of building or improving processes, not just running them
  • High attention to detail in data-heavy, money-moving work
  • Curiosity about how financial systems work under the hood

We're also open to people coming from less traditional finance paths. If you've been building financial workflows with AI tools, whether that's automations, AI-assisted analysis, or lightweight systems that run in production, that kind of thinking fits well here.

We know not every great candidate checks every box. If this role excites you but you don't meet all the qualifications, we'd still love to hear from you.

Why Jawnt

  • Lean, senior team. You'll have real ownership from day one
  • Your work ships. Decisions get made quickly and you'll see the impact
  • Philadelphia-based. The team works in an office above Suburban Station.
  • We genuinely care about the people we work with. Humans first is one of our core values

Compensation: $55-75/hour, anticipating 30-40 hours/week. This is a six-month contract position and we want to be upfront about that: it may not extend beyond the initial term. We want candidates who are comfortable with that structure.

Growth Path

Own Jawnt's billing and revenue ops infrastructure, then expand into financial analytics, forecasting, or systems design as we scale nationally.
